Your image brings to mind the bravery of the people who dared to step into such an unknown world and their work to build a home and life. Love the composition!

Wasn't sure whether to say this, as it's a bit weird. But your art must have made quite an impression on me, because I actually dreamed about it last night. I was in one of the upstairs windows, looking out and there was nothing for miles. I knew I was in a painting. And, whilst I love my solitude and isolation - I did start to wonder if I was going to be there forever, just stuck. It lasted ages and fluctuated between a sense of dread and of peace. Anyway, a bit of useless information there for you. But I just found it interesting how art can really affect us. I still love it, by the way.
Jeff Burgess replied:
Oh Issie, thanks for sharing such an intimate feeling. Not useless information at all. I appreciate your very personal thoughts and love that the art penetrated your soul.

This is the sort of art I love - the kind that makes me feel something. I love how the sky is only subtly different from the land - as if there is a feeling of the landscape going on forever. I'm not sure if this gives me a sense of freedom, or of being trapped and suffocated in the same place, every day, over and over. Amazing work Jeff - my new favourite of yours.
Jeff Burgess replied:
Issie, the greatest praise an artist can get is that the observer "feels something" deep inside when a piece (or dance, or theatrical effort) is presented. And you've given me this so thank you. And your expressed feelings, seeming conflicting, are deeply felt by others at times. I guess, from my perspective, they are important to you to voice and are respected.

What gives art its magic is its ability to express our deepest emotions ,,, In the artists own secret language which few may not understand or speak it This is a loneliness abandonment in older age a feeling of no one there for you anymoreThis is my understanding of it,,,What could have been now lost
Jeff Burgess replied:
You have hit on something that is quite common for those us in the 'older' age bracket. But loss and isolation is common among all age groups, unfortunately. I thank you for your perspective and the fact that this work resonated deeply for you. My art often reflects my own emotions.... it can be dark, bright with color, or - as this work demonstrates - foreboding. Thanks for commenting.

It is not a good inner feeling, but when you live in crowded NJ, the isolation of living here would turn into a most beautiful solitude. I just love it.

Good palette...reminds me of 'Christina's World'

I have received similar comments, but I did not have this work on my mind when I created this piece. Thanks though.... what a great compliment.

Amazing work, reminds me of an Andrew Wyeth work, LF
Jeff Burgess replied:
When I created this, I hadn't even considered Wyeth's work, but you are right, his work without the woman.
