Description
There is so much that man is and can become. This abstract illustrates my feelings regarding the nature and growth of man. Man is more than simply internal organs. More than a heart, liver, lungs, intestines, or genitals. The essence of man comes from all that he sees and all that he does during a lifetime. Plasticity exists in the development of his mind and body. This results in a recreation of self throughout life. Whatever man becomes, however, in the eyes of God, it must be flawless. As perfect as a butterfly's wing or the anatomy of a moth. Describing this 'sense' of 'vision' in an abstracted fusion photography work was not easy. Just like life, it was frought with trial and error and steps forward and back. There was also judgement. More than once there was dispair in my inability to articulate my thoughts but ultimately joy in seeing the construct come together. The American Heritage Dictionary defines the zoologic man as: "a member of the genus Homo, family Hominidae, order Primates, class Mammalia, characterized by erect posture and an opposable thumb, especially a member of the only extant species, Homo sapiens, distinguished by a highly developed brain, the capacity for abstract reasoning, and the ability to communicate by means of organized speech and record information in a variety of symbolic systems". But this defination cannot begin to define the full nature of man, nor can the biblical accounts. He is also not simply a 'male human endowed with qualities, such as strength, considered characteristic of manhood, or a male lover, sweetheart, or husband. But a women is important to a man and this is reflected in the glimpses of women in the work. The muted reds in this image suggest dominance, vitality, and energy. The yellow/gold suggests happiness, hope, light, energy, and love of learning. This is my explanation.

Jeff, I think that you have quite successfully achieved your goal with this composition. It points out the wonderful creative detail in all nature from the smallest creatures to more advanced organisms. voted

Cheri, as a photographer you know the difficulty with digitizing images. I thank you much for this thoughtful comment.
