Description
One of my favorite places in the Pacific Northwest is Hurricane Ridge in the Olympic National Park. One of my favorite seasons is fall when the rains come in bunches but also when it can be sunny at the same time. And it gets cold. Snow has already fallen in the Olympics and it is early October. This image is one of many I took while hiking the Olympics. It shows rain and sun and the vanishing landscape so frequently seen with the change in the weather and emerging fronts.
Per Wikipedia, the "Olympic National Park is a United States national park located in the state of Washington, in the Olympic Peninsula. The park has four basic regions: the Pacific coastline, alpine areas, the west side temperate rainforest and the forests of the drier east side".
President Theodore Roosevelt was the one who originally created Mount Olympus National Monument in 1909. Then it t was later designated a national park by President Franklin Roosevelt on June 29, 1938. As further reported by Wikipedia "in 1976, Olympic National Park became an International Biosphere Reserve, and in 1981 it was designated a World Heritage Site. In 1988, Congress designated 95 percent of the park as the Olympic Wilderness" .
If you ever get to Washington State try to make it into the park. You won't be disappointed. The color may not look like this image if it is not fall, but the greens are still beautiful.
