Description
On June 21 the Fremont area of Seattle (they call it the Center of the Universe) has their annual Solstice parade and Fremont Fair. Venders from all over the Northwest come to display their wares. The parade begins with hundreds of naked bikers that are brightly painted and costumed. Then all 'vehicles' or 'floats' as well as musical groups march for several miles. A requirement is that the floats cannot be motor powered. They must be human powered and this leads to some very interesting 'creations'. There is also live music from several venues. I happened to catch this wonderful group at one of early morning shows. Unfortunately I can't recall their name but this particular fellow could play the guitar, tuba, and another instrument as well as sing. A tremendous talent. I happened to catch this shot which has been extensively modified.
As stated on the Freemont website: http://fremont.com/about/fremontfair/
"Held annually in mid-June to coincide with the Summer Solstice, the event draws more than 100,000 people to shop, eat, drink, mingle, groove, and enjoy all manners of creative expression. Founded in 1972, the Fremont Fair is one of Seattles most beloved neighborhood street festivals, featuring a weekend of eclectic activities that celebrate the quirky Fremont community. Artistic highlights include craft and art booths, street performers, local bands, wacky decorated art cars, and of course the free-spirited Solstice Parade produced by the Fremont Arts Council, and many other oddities that personify Fremonts official motto Delibertus Quirkus Freedom to be Peculiar.
New to the Fremont Fair this year, the Main Stage Beer Garden and the Redhook Main Stage will be open on Friday! Kick off your Fremont Fair weekend at the Friday Night Pre-Party, Friday June 15 from 4-11pm. Celebrate the Solstice until the sun goes down while you quench your thirst on your favorite summer brews and listen to live music on the Redhook Main Stage.
Funds raised at the Fremont Fair benefit a number of area non-profits including Fremont Chamber of Commerce and Solid Ground, a local poverty-focused non-profit who originated and produced the Fair for nearly 40 years". There are numerous websites up with thousands of pictures of folks at the fair. Check them out and if you like this work, please think about a purchase.

Thanks Artist News for this wonderful feature. I just now found it. Unfortunately for me, the original image file has been lost so this is all that is left. Anyone wanting this work will now have to go through FAA to get it. They have the only file.
